Abd al-Rahman bin Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah bin Muhammad al-Sudais, known as al-Sudais, is the general president for the affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque and an imam and preacher in the Grand Mosque in Mecca. He was born in Al-Bukayriyah in the Qassim region in 1379 AH, and he is one of the most famous reciters of the Noble Qur’an in the world, and he was able to memorize the Holy Qur’an when he was not twelve years old. Abd al-Rahman al-Sudais was known for the special tone in his voice that obeys the hearts and his excellent intonation of the Holy Qur’an. Al-Sudais won the Islamic Personality of the Year Award in the ninth session of the Dubai International Prize for the Holy Qur’an in 1995.
Al-Sudais held several positions, the most prominent of which was his appointment as an imam and preacher at the Grand Mosque in the year 1404 AH and he was the oldest and youngest imams of the Great Mosque of Mecca when he was appointed, as he was 22 years old at that time, and he began his work in the month of Shaaban of the same year on Sunday 22/8/1404 AH in the afternoon prayer , And his first sermon was in Ramadan of the same year.
