The Knowledge Platform App (PDC), owned by the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of the Territory and the Sea (MATTM), provides information on the projects on the PDC website, and is configured as a knowledge sharing tool (Knowledge management) and for the geolocation and dissemination of good environmental practices present on the Knowledge Platform (https://pdc.minambiente.it). The App and the Knowledge Platform were created as part of the LQS intervention line of the Mettiamoci in RIGA Project - Integrated Environmental Governance Strengthening, funded by the National Operational Governance and Institutional Capacity Program 2014-2020.
The Knowledge Platform was developed to collect and share innovative solutions (techniques, methodologies, models and systems) whose effectiveness has been verified directly in the field by projects financed in Italy by the European Commission through Community funding programs such as LIFE (Program for 'environment and climate action), Horizon 2020, CIP (Competitiveness and Innovation Program) and the Seventh Research Framework Program (FP7) which have given a real improvement to the management of complex environmental problems or reduction of the effects of climate changes.
A common feature of the solutions identified is that they can be reused in the same way and for the same purposes by those who are called to play an important role in environmental governance. The knowledge of the good practices of environmental and climate protection of the PDC can also interest the productive world and meet the needs of the system of small and medium-sized enterprises by sharing the methods of implementing eco-innovative solutions.
Eight environmental themes of the Knowledge Platform: Water, Waste, Urban environment, Soil, Climate change, Energy, Efficient use of resources, Nature and Biodiversity.
The Knowledge Platform App allows anyone with a mobile device to geolocate the Italian projects that have developed the best practices and to discover the technical solutions of interest found in the selected geographical area. Thanks to this feature, each user using the App's "Geography of good practices" filters will have the ability to select projects by theme, sub-theme, funding program, project contact person, region and research range (KM).

Through a narrative journey in stages in Augmented Reality (AR) with the use of QR codes, the objectives of the Knowledge Platform will be discovered and greater awareness will be gained on the main challenges related to the environment and climate change.

Using the "favorites" option of the App, the user will have the possibility to download in Adobe PDF format the technical sheets on more than a hundred environmental solutions present in the Knowledge Platform and the complete document collection (manuals, guidelines, plans , etc.) produced by the projects which describe how to use good environmental practices.
The App also provides a real-time update on news concerning the main environmental issues, a review of relevant European and national policies and regulations and a focus on the main European and national funding active in the field of environmental protection.
