Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad: a great writer, poet, philosopher, politician, historian, journalist, and monk of the niche of literature. He became famous and filled the world with his literature, and represented a unique case in modern Arabic literature, and reached a unique position in it.

Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad was born in Aswan Governorate in 1889 A.D., and his father was a simple employee of the Records Department. Al-Aqqad was satisfied that he obtained the elementary certificate, but he embarked on reading and educated himself. Where his library contained more than thirty thousand books. Akkad worked in many government jobs, but he detested government work and viewed him as a prison for his etiquette. So he didn't last long in any job he joined. Turn to journalistic work; He worked for Al-Dustour newspaper, published Al-Diya newspaper, and wrote in the most famous newspapers and magazines at the time. Akkad gave his life to literature. He did not marry, but lived love stories that he immortalized two of them in his novel "Sarah".

Akkad was very generous; He obtained membership of the Academy of Arabic Language in Cairo, and he was a correspondent member of the Academy of Arabic Language in Damascus and its counterpart in Baghdad, and he was granted the State Appreciation Prize in Literature, but he refused to receive it, and he also refused an honorary doctorate from Cairo University.

Akkad was a commando who fought many battles; In literature, he clashed with great poets and writers, and a fierce battle took place between him and the prince of poets, Ahmed Shawky, in his book The Divan in Literature and Criticism. He also established Al-Diwan School with Abdel-Qader Al-Mazni and Abdel-Rahman Shukry, where he called for the renewal of the imagination, the poetic image, and the commitment to organic unity in the poetic structure. He also attacked many writers and poets, such as Mustafa Sadiq al-Rafi'i. He also had intellectual battles with "Taha Hussein", Zaki Mubarak, Mustafa Jawad and Bint al-Shati.

Al-Akkad participated strongly in political arena He joined the Wafd Party, and valiantly defended “Saad Zaghloul”, but he resigned from the party in 1933, following a dispute with “Mustafa Al-Nahhas”. He attacked the king while preparing the constitution; He was imprisoned for nine months, as he objected to the 1936 AD treaty. He also fought tyranny, absolutism, fascism and Nazism.

His books became more than a hundred, and the most famous of them is genius, in addition to many articles that are difficult to enumerate, and he has a single story, "Sarah".

He died in 1964, leaving a huge inheritance, and a vacant platform for his successor
