When I first started playing The Hunter: COTW, I found myself using a few browser tabs to keep track of useful info, and writing things down in two physical notebooks (one for need zones, one for recording important harvests) at the same time. After a while, I was finding it quite difficult to extract useful info from the mass of stuff I'd written down - it was impossible to search or filter in a meaningful way. And so I sat down to create an app to solve this problem for myself.

This app is NOT your standard "what is the max weight of species X?" kind of app, although that info is contained here. Instead, the app primarily functions as a set of tools for recording data that is useful to you as you play the game - discovered need zones (with locations and times), important harvests, locations of interest etc. etc. The app also allows this data to be filtered and collated in a way that is actually useful to you, as you play. You've decided to hunt a specific species? Great! The app will show you were you have discovered locations for this species before, and where you've already had success hunting that species. Or.... maybe you are just casually strolling through a specific area at a specific time, and want to know what is likely to be available for hunting... this app will help you figure that out. Or maybe you find yourself wondering "what's my biggest recorded trophy for Species X?", or "what is the average range that I harvest animals at?" Or... you get the idea.

If you are the kind of COTW hunter who has also wanted answers to questions like those above, or maybe you've been recording data manually in the hopes of making the most of the game , then this app is for you.

Note: like any data-driven functionality, the usefulness is entirely dependent on the quality and quantity of data in the system. The app does not come with a whole list of need zones and harvests already "built in" - it's up to YOU to enter that info in... and the more data you input, the more useful the app will be prove to be. So, if you don't feel like you want to spend time adding info into the app, then it will really not be something that you find useful. (Personally, I prefer not to enter in all harvests, however. I record "memorable harvests" only: golds, diamonds, uncommon or rare fur types will get recorded. It's entirely up to you, of course! )
