Manado or Minahasa language is spoken by residents in Manado, Bitung, Tomohon, Minahasa, South Minahasa, North Minahasa, Southeast Minahasa, Bolaang Mongondow Regency and Gorontalo Province. Has similarities with dialects of languages ​​in Central Sulawesi and Maluku. Most of the words in the Manado language are the same as the words in Indonesian. As the Manado language is only used for oral communication, no written / orthographic standard has ever been endorsed.

Manado language is closely related to Indonesian. The most basic difference is the presence of loanwords from Dutch and Portuguese, and the use of "we" as a singular first person pronoun (which in Indonesian is used for a singular plural pronoun).
