The Book of Daniel a Biblical book of Old Testament and Hebrew Tanakh, which in Christian Bibles is among the books of Ezekiel and Hosea is.

It is the sixth of the prophetic books and is included among Christians -by Major Prophets (which is the fourth, after Isa, Jeremiah and Ezekiel).

The first part of the book tells the story of the prophet Daniel, who according to the same book, lived in Babylon in exile along with the rest of the Jewish people in the sixth century. C.

In this part the vicissitudes of Daniel and three companions to be faithful to God, contrary to what is commanded by Nebuchadnezzar II, king of the Babylonians are narrated. Daniel also the wisdom to correctly interpret dreams and visions of the king is told. Finally, he recounts what happened to Daniel when the Babylonians were defeated; although this conquest is attributed to a man named Darius the Mede, unknown by history rather than by Cyrus II, king of Persia.

The second part of the book may historically refer to what happened in the Middle East (particularly in Judea) when the Ptolemies and Seleucids fought for territory, and later during the reign of Antiochus IV Epiphanes who tried to suppress the Jewish cult in Jerusalem and replace it with a Hellenistic cult.

There are also five deuterocanónicos stories, the originals are preserved only in Greek

Daniel lived more than five hundred years before Jesus was born. However, sle revealed information that could determine when he would anoint, or designate Jesus as the Messiah, or Christ.

The book of Daniel is a unique and fascinating work, and in its prophetic section premonitory and apocalyptic elements that form the basis of Christian eschatology abound.

It shows how God gives wisdom to Daniel and how to give it to anyone who wants to, for the simple fact of having will and recognize that the power is in the hands of the Almighty, God Almighty.

The message is simple and grandiose at once: God is in control of history and can keep yours forever.
