The application of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem contains a video tour inside the church
The Church of the Nativity is considered one of the oldest churches in the world and was built over the cave in which Christ was born under the roof of the church. The original building of the church was built by Queen Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine in the fourth century AD, and Emperor Justinian rebuilt it in its current form in 540 after the Samaritans demolished it, and set up It has three curves in the form of a cross. The number of columns in the church square is (48) columns of pink stone. The church’s ground level is 60 cm lower than the current floor. Above the cave is an octagonal building with a length of 7.9 cm. On either side are two rectangular rooms, and the main altar is located where the Greek Orthodox hold their religious ceremonies. There are remnants of prominent mosaic paintings on the walls of the nave, which are a painting of the Tree of Life of the ancestors of Christ. The entrance to the church’s door was minimized in the tenth century to prevent horses and animals from entering it.
Inside the church there is also the Nativity Grotto, one of the oldest and holiest spots in the Christian world after the Holy Tomb, being the birthplace of Christ, the cave is located under the church’s roof, and its cave measures 38 feet long and 11 feet wide. It has two entrances, it is lit with 48 lamps, and it contains the birthplace of Christ and the manger. Christmas celebrations are held here and broadcast around the world.
