(*) is required

* The *only* pinyin-based Hanzi input method for Android which lets you use tones.
* Ideal for students of Chinese! Written exercises such as essays, etc, become an opportunity to continuously reinforce and revise your tones.
* Freely resize the keyboard! Has separate settings for portrait and landscape modes.
* Has delete mode option -- last character/syllable/all.

No other Chinese IME on the Android market supports tones, resizability, or configurable delete mode.

The size and delete mode options are permanently unlocked by watching a brief one-time video advert.

**Pinyin & Tones IME Chinese evaluation version requires "internet" and "access network state" permissions to serve Google advertisements. These permissions are not used for any other purpose. If you wish to use an offline version, please upgrade to the Plus version.**

Tones are supplied in the standard format used by many dictionary websites, as a numeric suffix to each pinyin syllable. E.g. to input "我要", you should type "wo3yao4". To input "我的", you type "wo3de5", etc.

The free evaluation version is supported by displaying Google advertisements. If you like this keyboard and wish to support its future development, you can remove the advertisements by buying the paid version ("Pinyin & Tones IME Chinese +"). Please check the IME meets your needs and works on your device before buying the paid version.

Supports simplified and traditional characters. The traditional character support is through an automated conversion process, please report any issues you spot.

Notes:
* Some characters, for example 为, can be read with more than one tone, depending on meaning. For these characters, if entered as part of a longer word, the tone applicable for that word is needed. For example, 以为 is entered as yi3wei2, but 为什么 is entered as wei4shen2me5. However if you enter each character individually you can use any valid tone for each character.
* Tone sandhi rules are not applied.
* Neutral tones are used in compound words: if you can't get it to display a word even though you think you're typing the correct tones for each character, it will often be because the final character should be neutral (5th tone).
