The new mobile application allows the Anthos user access to the main Anthos modules, including distribution data and plants images hosted in the project server, besides access to the database of threatened and protected flora which is offered through the module Phyteia .

Thus, any user with a last generation and an android phone or tablet can connect his device to the Anthos web service and query in the the database the information that could find interesting in relation to the Spanish flora while is in the wild.

In this way, a user with a wild plant can access to the data of the references of the species, their distribution maps, and photos that help to confirm its identification in the field. Also he will be able to know if that plant is protected in Spain or is in danger, and if included in any of the Spanish Red Data Books or List. In short, "the aim is to bring the power of the Anthos databases to the wild, to provide a better service to all those interested in the Spanish wild flora."

Anthos offers currently about 2 million biodiversity data from the Spanish vascular flora, free and in open source and with the scientific support of the project Flora Iberica. Anthos is thus the most important Spanish database on plant biodiversity with more than 140,000 visitors per year.

The Anthos project celebrates 15 years of operation on the internet (www.anthos.es) with the support of the Fundación Biodiversidad of the Spsanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Anthos is a derivative product of the Flora iberica (www.floraiberica.es) project, which is funded through the National Spanish Program of Development of Scientific and Excellence Technical Research of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (CGL2014-52787-C3-1-P) and belongs to the Real Jardín Botánico (CSIC) and the universities of Cordoba, Seville and Salamanca.
