This is an application that reads the speed signs, reminding motorists in traffic when encountering these types of signs. Helping drivers to always comply with the correct speed, avoiding risks caused by speeding.
Some features:
The app uses the smartphone's rear camera to read signs.
+ Warning the driver through video and sound when encountering speed signs.
+ Save the resulting image to the folder Pictures / speed_images
+ The installation process must have internet for the application to download data (about 40Mb)
+ When we first boot, we have to allow the app to access the location service and machine's library twice.
Some note :
- Place the smartphone camera so that the right side of the road stays in the middle of the image, so that the sign appears on the camera for as long as possible. Camera position greatly affects sign reading results
- The photo on the camera will be blurry (because it is not a dashcam), mainly taking the image to suit the application requirements.
- Two parameters alpha and beta (default is 0.3 and 70) in the settings to adjust the contrast and brightness of the image to suit each type of machine and time frames during the day or night. We can change these parameters to get the best sign reading results for each type of machine.
- Works best with android 10 and above
General evaluation through experiment:
- Weakness :
Misread the sign (usually at night). So when we receive the warning sound should also check again by reviewing the result image to compare.
Skip signs (due to slow reading speed when moving fast)
- Advantages :
Sea reading is quite accurate in good lighting conditions
