Tharwat Abaza is a great Egyptian writer and novelist. He is considered one of the flags of the Sharkia Governorate, the Zagazig Center, the village of Ghazaleh, and has many contributions to literature. He is from the Abaza family, which is one of the most ancient families in Egypt, a literary family that presented to Arab literature giants of literary figures, on top of them his father, the writer Desouki Abaza, his uncle, the poet Aziz Abaza, and his uncle, the great writer Fikri Abaza.
He obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Fouad I University in 1950, and began his career as a lawyer. He started his literary life at the age of sixteen, which is an early beginning, and turned to writing the short story and the radio show, and his name began to be repeated on the radio, then he turned to the long story and wrote his first story, Ibn Ammar, which is a historical story, and he also wrote a play entitled Life for Us.
He headed the editor-in-chief of the Radio and Television magazine in 1974, and headed the literary section of Al-Ahram newspaper between 1975 and 1988 and continued writing for the same newspaper until his death. He also served as president of the Writers' Union. He held the position of Undersecretary of the Shura Council, as well as a member of the Supreme Council for Culture, the National Specialized Councils, the Board of Trustees of the Radio and Television Union, Honorary Chairman of the Modern Literature Association, and a member of the International Pen Club.
