The mobile application is developed at the request of the World Health Organization (WHO) – Africa Regional Office (AFRO). AFRiSC is a learning application designed to improve the knowledge and skills of vaccine supply chain (CAV) agents and logisticians in 47 African countries. It allows users to access micro-learning capsules developed according to the guidelines of WHO, UNICEF, People that Deliver, etc. Thanks to the application, users can immerse themselves in a team culture via the forum and the social network, expand their knowledge via the knowledge library.
VCC staff at all levels of the health system in 47 countries in the WHO AFRO region:
• CAV managers
• Logisticians
• Cold chain technicians
• Storekeepers
• Members of the National Logistics Group
• Technical Partners - Countries
How does AFRiSC help WHO AFRO address growing challenges and work towards more equitable access to routine immunization and new vaccines to protect children against preventable diseases?
In the WHO African Region, countries and partners have implemented various immunization training programs, but recent EVM assessments have revealed the need to continue training and retraining VCC staff. The main challenges are currently highlighted to achieve high staff performance in the field of CAV: standard training content without taking into account the various skill requirements, expensive, long and repeated training for the high number of staff in the CAV.
The app, an innovative solution to deliver appropriate on-the-job learning, offers the following benefits:
• Encourage close contact between CAV staff in country to enable quick and easy support if needed.
• Promote a culture of peer-to-peer learning through the forum and social network to share each other's experiences and address CAV challenges.
• Facilitate the learning process by providing easily digestible and accessible micro-learning capsules based on the main VLC resources: guidelines, tools, reports, etc.
