How to use (HELP)
1. This is an app that remembers the meaning of given words. (Memorizes 1,600 words per week)
2. There’s no need to force your brain just because you can’t think of an English word. To remember the English word equivalent to the Korean word, you only need to concentrate and think for 2 or 3 seconds. There is no need to struggle painfully.
3. If you check a word whose meaning you know, do not memorize it, but collect the remaining words and practice them repeatedly. If you check 5 words each 8 times, a repeat practice screen will appear. If you do this process 8 times, it becomes one unit and can be done in one day. This way, you will remember 320 words per day, or 1600 words in 5 days.
4. On the repetitive practice screen, if you know the meaning of the word, click “I know”, and if you don’t remember it, click “Write”. If you don't remember, repeat until you remember and move on.
5. Never be disappointed or upset. Words you know well are repeated at least three times, and sentences you don't know are repeated continuously until you remember them.
Learning Principle 1 (Ted Memorization)
Concentrate for 10 minutes to memorize about 40 words, and 80 minutes to memorize 320 words. Memorize 320 words on Monday, review the 320 words memorized the previous day on Tuesday, memorize the next 320 words, and memorize 1,600 words in 5 days until Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, I review 1,600 words. Memorize up to 8000 words in 5 weeks.
1. Use only your eyes and mouth without using anything. If you give up the habit of slowly memorizing words by writing them down repeatedly, you will be free from the bondage of memorizing words. The speed of memorization increases and the strength of memory improves.
2. The mouth must move. Moving your muscles strengthens your memory. This is because mouth movements are made under instructions from the brain, so brain stimulation is stronger than when memorizing with the mouth closed.
3. Memorize 40 words in 10 minutes. If you concentrate on memorizing 40 words every 10 minutes, you can memorize thousands of words with fun.
4. I don’t care about the accuracy of pronunciation and spelling. Elements that interfere with memorization must be excluded so that you can memorize more quickly and accurately.
5. Memorize only the first meaning. You can maintain immersion by memorizing the first interpretation in a one-to-one relationship with the word.
6. If you memorize 40 words 8 times, you will complete Unit 1 to memorize for a day. When you see an unknown word, your brain is strongly stimulated, so only words marked with ‘I don’t know’ are repeated.
7. Immediately after memorizing, evaluate with your eyes and mouth. Recalling a word without looking at its interpretation is more effective in strengthening memory than remembering the word to be memorized multiple times.
Learning Principle 2 (Secret of 8000 words)
“How much do I have to study to become good at English?”, “What is the problem?”
I wanted to know the answer to this question. After thinking about it carefully, the answer was simple. Aside from everything else, interpretation was absolutely impossible without knowing the meaning of the word. So how many words do you need to know? Research shows that native English speakers use a vocabulary of approximately 30,000 to 50,000 words. So how many words do you need to communicate?
It is a well-known fact that the frequency of use of words follows a power law. This is the law that the probability of a major event occurring is low, and the probability of a routine event occurring is very high. Just as Parito's law states that 20% of the population has 80% of the wealth, 20% of frequently used words account for 80% of total word usage. Considering that native speakers know an average of 40,000 words, knowing 20% of that, or 8,000 words, is enough for English as a foreign language.
Learning Principle 3 (Understand words through their etymology.)
The gap in words is the gap in English
Where does the educational gap we commonly talk about, the gap between students from high-income families and students from low-income families, widen? It's English. Even in English, words are the biggest problem. How long will it take to memorize countless unfamiliar words? It is not unusual to have students memorize a hundred or a thousand words a day. If you can't master English words, you won't be able to speak English, and if you can't speak English, it will be difficult to go to school or get a job. We need to find an English vocabulary study method that suits us.
You are not brainy.
The study method is just wrong. You are not lazy. It's just that no one taught me how to study in a fun way. It will be different now. There is no longer any need to memorize English words or quickly forget them. If you just invest some time through this app, you will be able to memorize it very easily. No, you will understand. You will gain confidence in English.
Words to memorize while understanding their origins
Most students just memorize English words. I look at it again and again until I memorize it, write it to the point where the paper turns pitch black and my wrist ligaments stretch, or until it gets stuck in my head. However, if you understand the etymology, you can understand and study it like math or science.
Learning Principle 3 (Secret of Memory)
0.5 seconds is the minimum length of time that becomes the standard for action and thinking. In the brains of humans or higher animals, whenever two events or symbols must be connected into one process, this time continues to appear as an unchanging constant.
Humans can only think for this moment, 0.5 seconds. After this half a second, you move from one thought to another, from thought to action. Therefore, even the longest and most complex flow of thoughts or actions gains full context only when they are linked together like a chain in half-second increments.
In the field of learning psychology, the critical time of 0.5 seconds can no longer be denied. If it is not learned within 0.5 seconds, it was either learned incorrectly through a detour or not learned. The critical time of 0.5 seconds is important when studying. People who don't realize this miss the opportunity to save time and effort when studying.
0.5 seconds is often referred to as ‘the interval between eye turns’. This is because it takes that much time to follow movement with your eyes. This short period of learning should use silent recitation. Just thinking about it in your head is enough to learn. Recitation is good learning. But don't make a sound. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to keep to 0.5 seconds.
When is the turning point in your life that changes your life? This was the exact moment when I decided that I wanted to change my life at any time. A sincere heart leads to consistent action, and consistent action will definitely change the shape of your life. The secret to becoming good at English is your sincere desire to change your life through English.
Start with the simplest and easiest thing!
A great way to achieve a goal is to repeat small things.
Great achievements are achieved little by little, little by little.
All change, even when it is positive, comes with fear. Attempts to reach goals through radical and revolutionary methods usually fail because they increase fear. However, the small step strategy relieves the brain from responding to fear and stimulates rational thinking and creativity.
The thought, ‘My English skills have improved!’ is not something that can be felt continuously and steadily, but like a staircase, at some point you get an ‘Aha!’ I feel like my skills have improved!’ People who are called English experts usually say that they started having fun studying after experiencing the joy of ‘This is it!’ the moment they climbed the first stair. Don't give up if your skills don't improve even though you study hard. That's what language study is like. If you hold on just a little longer, the moment will come when you can easily climb the first stair.
The standard by which our brain (hippocampus) determines what information to store is ‘repetition.’ When questions are asked repeatedly, the brain can't help it. Focus on that and be prepared to answer. The brain loves play. Questions keep our brains awake and entertained. When the brain is asked a question, no matter how ridiculous it may be, it tries to come up with something. Questions should not be burdensome, but should be fun. For questions to be interesting, they have to be small. When you ask a small question, the amygdala quietly goes to sleep and the playful brain wakes up to absorb the question and magically remember or come up with a creative idea.
