The Martyrs of the Church - Stories app is an application that will help you learn the suffering of the first Christians.

What does it mean to be a martyr? The martyr is witness to Christ not only with his confession of faith, but also with his life and with his death, thus imitating the work and saving death of the Redeemer. He is, therefore, a witness par excellence. Martyrs prefer to lay down their lives than to deny their faith.

The Holy Protomartyrs of the Holy Church were tortured and killed in the time of Emperor Nero from 66 AD, and of Emperor Domitian from 93 AD; These were dressed in the skins of domestic and wild animals to later be torn to pieces by dogs or other wild animals. Following the example of their Savior, they were pinned alive to crosses. After whipping them they were burned and smoked, putting torches and lamps under their shoulders and on other soft parts of their naked bodies. They also burned them with burning wood and firewood. They were used as candles, torches or lamps, to give light and thus illuminate the Roman coliseums at night.
