This app transcribes Korean words and texts into the McCune-Reischauer transcription. For better readability, syllables are separated by picture dashes.

The transcription is done in several steps:

- isolated:
Each syllable is transcribed as it would have to be pronounced if it stood alone (isolated).

- analytical:
Each syllable is transcribed to represent all the vowels and consonants that make it up.

- contextual:
Each syllable is transcribed in such a way that the pronunciation changes caused by its surrounding syllables are represented, taking into account all phonetic rules.

- vernacular (to follow shortly):
Each syllable is transcribed in such a way that the pronunciation changes that occur due to colloquial usage are represented as best as possible.

To optimize the quality of the transcription, the "Report an error" button can be used to report suspected incorrect transcriptions or cases of doubt to the app developer.
