The history of Rádio Cultura FM in Novo Progresso begins in 2003, with the foundation of the Associação Amigos de Novo Progresso, a philanthropic entity with the objective of providing relevant social work to the less favored and defending their social rights.

The AANP, made up of people linked to the local press, realized the creation of a licensed broadcaster would be the best way to maintain uninterrupted social work in the municipality.

It took 5 years of a lot of struggle, expenses, disappointments until finally reaching the release of the Ministry of Communications and the inauguration of Rádio Cultura FM 87.9, on April 30, 2008.

In addition, Radio Cultura FM 87.9, is a partnership of the population, campaigns, fights for the rights of citizens. It is a partner of class entities and representatives of the municipality, opening up all the space for them to publicize all the actions there. It is a partner of religious entities, being open to all creeds and beliefs without distinction.

But Cultura FM 87.9 is also a renowned radio station with an absolute audience in Novo Progresso/PA.
