locality.nyc is your source for New York City neighborhood information. Search by address, landmark, or geolocate to your current location. Tap the neighborhood name to see more detailed information, including historical summaries and demographics. Neighborhoods are overlaid transparently on top of a Google Map, allowing you to see where you are block by block.

Data adapted from nyc.gov, OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia, and Google Maps. All neighborhood boundaries are subject to debate.

PERMISSION INFO:
* Location access is requested when you first open the app. If you decline, you will not be able to use the geolocation feature. To re-enable, go to your phone's settings, select "Apps & notifications", find the locality.nyc app, and change the permissions to allow "Location".
NEW: Tap on the names of neighborhoods to see a historical summary! Learn about what shaped the neighborhood you see today, and fun facts about demographics and culture. Only Manhattan neighborhoods have summaries at the time of writing, but more will soon be available.
