Music fans of a certain age in the UK will fondly remember the stalwart of BBC Radio at its most eclectic, DJ and broadcasting legend John Peel - the champion of so many new, exciting, and bizarrely named bands - and might on hearing any slightly incongruous assembly of words think, for example, "Homeless Otter Fiasco! I remember them, didn't they do a couple of Peel Sessions back in the day?"

Here is a free, ad-free app to continue that fine tradition. With space for eleven contributory parts to select, it will fish out at random a word from extensive lists of the following parts of speech:

Honorifics (e.g. QUEEN Latifah, MAJOR Lazer)
First Names (Pink FLOYD, JOAN As Policewoman)
Second Names (Luscious JACKSON, Shakin' STEVENS)
Adjectives (HAPPY Mondays, PLASTIC Bertrand)
Adverbs (BADLY Drawn Boy, SO Solid Crew)
Possessives (MY Bloody Valentine, Dick Dale & HIS Del-Tones)
Prepositions (Rage AGAINST The Machine, Rocket FROM The Crypt)
Pronouns (THIS Mortal Coil, Melt YOURSELF Down)
Three forms of verbs:
Imperatives (RUN The Jewels, BOMB The Bass)
3rd Person Present (The Teardrop EXPLODES, SplodgenessABOUNDS)
Gerunds (SMASHING Pumpkins, TAKING Back Sunday)

Along with two separate lists - each with over 3000 nouns, singular and plural - from ABBEY to ZONES. The * LINE BREAK * option creates space to separate and set up a running order of acts.

If you like certain parts of the results you can lock them, and re-run the generator for the rest, though this isn't necessary for the &, & THE, OF, OF THE and * LINE BREAK * options.

This app is in no way connected to the estate of late great British radio DJ John Ravenscroft aka John Peel or the BBC. It involves no third party advertising or investment, but you're invited to make a donation to support the ongoing work of the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts at www.johnpeelcentre.com.

While certain rude words in English are excluded, being a random grammar generator there remains some potential for offence from the results. For this reason, no permissions are sought from your device and the app is not recommended for users under the age of 18 who, let's face it, aren't likely to get it anyway.

Designed using the Droidscript IDE. Starts quietly.
