The history of the city of Pattensen is unique. With the free Pattensen time travel app, residents, guests and interested parties can now immerse themselves in the moving history of the city on a self-guided tour. At a total of 16 stations, you can experience on the spot what it used to be like here. Take the chance and share this experience with your family, your friends or your staff. The tour of the city ends at the market square, where you can finally have a bite to eat.
A highlight of the time travel app is the 3D reconstruction of the old castle. A model was created for the former castle according to the ground plan of the historical map "Pattensen anno Domini 1540" with a typical appearance at the end of the Middle Ages around 1500 (before it was destroyed in the Hildesheim collegiate feud). Based on this model of Pattensen Castle, a 360 degree panorama was created with an interior view of the castle grounds in all directions.
With the app, you can not only be navigated to the individual locations, but also superimpose the current perspective on site using augmented reality (AR) with videos and image material. Here you will also meet some important Pattenser personalities, such as Antonius Corvinus, the guards of the swarm guard or Duchess Elisabeth von Calenberg, who report on their experiences from Pattenser history.
In addition to the personalities, you will discover the following stations during the journey:
Castle Pattensen
At one of the first stations you are standing on ground steeped in history: you are standing on the
Site of the castle that was built by the Counts of Hallermund at the beginning of the 13th century to protect the major trade routes (north-south route Hanover-Kassel and east-west road from Dortmund to Magdeburg, "the Helweg before Sandforde") .
Old Guard
The building was erected in 1838 and was supposed to house a garrison of soldiers, but they never did
was stationed there (one of the "Pattenser Wonders of the World", the "Guard without Soldiers").
Wieters house
The building is the only residential building that survived the great fire of 1733 and is still standing today. The house protrudes into the street and thus marks the original width of the passage through the inner stone gate.
Stichel Manor
This manor is one of the old Calenberger manors, which emerged from one of the former Burgmannshöfe. The Burgmannen, who were enfeoffed with these courts, were obliged - in addition to their normal task of helping to defend the castle - to look after the rest of the castle garrison.
St. Lucas Church
Pattensen a special ecclesiastical importance; from here Antonius Corvinus (1501-1553) directed the
Reformation in the Principality of Calenberg (1542), the church square is named after him in his memory, and a plaque embedded in the wall of the church (1901) bears witness to his work in Pattensen
Marketplace and Ratskeller
The old and new center of the city is the marketplace with the old town hall and the Ratskeller; the right-angled market square has regained its original meaning as a meeting place and square of the market as a result of the renovations in 1981 and 2015/16. The old town hall burned down to the foundations in 1733
1757-1759 rebuilt as a two-storey plastered quarry stone building and was the administrative seat until 1976. On the east side, two sandstone slabs with the city coat of arms, the one from 1757 with a Latin inscription, testify to the reconstruction and conversion and show us at the same time
the old and the new coat of arms of the city.
It is important to the city of Pattensen that the route of the journey through time is barrier-free. The app also has offline capability and allows you to pre-download all content on your smartphone or tablet if you want to be independent of mobile internet access on site.
We hope you enjoy your time travel through Pattensen!
