The source of information on this app is material collected by the journalists of Gongwer News Service. Candidate biographical and contact information is submitted by the candidates through a form they receive from Gongwer and then reviewed by Gongwer prior to posting. For candidates who do not respond, Gongwer will look for biographical information from publicly available sources like candidate websites.

District maps are drawn from the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and entered into our database. Links to candidate social media websites are researched by Gongwer staff and entered into our database. Endorsement information is supplied by the organizations making the endorsement. Election results come from Gongwer’s database, which is based on information from the Michigan Bureau of Elections’ official election results. Analysis for each race is written by Gongwer staff based on their knowledge of the race, the candidates and interviews with those knowledgeable about the race.

Gongwer’s unmatched database provides that history for any candidates running this year who ran for state and/or federal office going back to 2002.
