About the Birmingham Museum: The Birmingham Museum is a municipally operated public institution located in Birmingham, Michigan, with collection objects and archives that pertain to Birmingham's history that are held in the public trust. We are always evolving, and very interested in hearing from you, whether it is a resource you are looking for, suggestion of topics for us to explore, or a program that might meet your need. Our mission statement reflects our values of "people" over "artifacts" in our approach to serving the public interest, and our focus on the story behind the facts.

Our site includes the Allen House, built in 1926 by Birmingham’s first mayor and his family, and the Hunter House, built in 1822 and the oldest house in Birmingham and Oakland County. The Allen House contains our changing exhibits and the Hunter House serves as our site for interpreting early pioneer life in the community on the Saginaw Trail.
