It is a surah that has both Makki and Madani characteristics, as it was revealed partly before and partly after the migration of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to Madinah. The surah covers various topics, such as the oneness and greatness of Allah, the reality of the Hereafter, the importance of charity and jihad, and the virtues of the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

There are many benefits and virtues of reciting Surah Al-Hadid, as reported by various authentic sources. Some of them are:

The Prophet (peace be upon him) has said that whoever recites Surah Al-Hadid will be counted from among the staunch believers.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (may Allah be pleased with him) has said that whoever recites all the surahs that start with Tasbih of Allah (s.w.t.) before going to sleep, will not die before meeting the 12th Holy Imam (a.s.) and after his death, he will have the honor of being a neighbor of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.).
Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (may Allah be pleased with him) has said that if Surah Al-Hadid and al-Mujadilah are recited in the faraa’idh (compulsory prayers) frequently, then the reciter will never face any punishment of Allah (s.w.t.) in this world and will not see any evil from his family. If recited by a prisoner, he will be released soon. If worn on the neck as a talisman, the wearer will not be killed in war. This surah also makes one courageous.

Reciting Surah Al-Hadid will increase one's faith and devotion to Allah, as this surah praises His names and attributes, and invites to His worship and obedience.
Reciting Surah Al-Hadid will protect one from the evil of Shaytan and his whispers, as this surah warns against his plots and schemes.
