"My solar time" to make it easier for you to enjoy the sun without burning yourself. It allows you to calculate how long you can be in the sun without getting red, based on where you are, time of day and how sensitive you are to the sun. How sensitive skin varies from individual to individual.
Note that the soltider that are calculated are based on statistically calculated UV Index. Soltiderna should therefore be seen as guide that shows how long you can be out without protective clothing or sunscreen. The calculations do not take into account whether you have been out in the sun earlier in the day. Therefore, always pay attention to how your skin reacts.
The app provides you with the following:
• the ability to calculate soltider and UV index for time and place where you are located, but also for other dates than today, and for other locations
• the opportunity to see the graph of the UV Index changes throughout the day
• Public sun advice
• special sun advice for children
• facts about sun sensitivity
• facts about UV rays
• facts about the UV Index
How does the app?
"My solar time" calculates the ultraviolet radiation levels in the sunlight (UV Index) for the current time of year and location (latitude) with respect to the normal ozone layer. The app then calculates a solar time after how sensitive you say that you are to the sun. All individuals are sensitive to the sun and there is a commonly used classification of different skin types depending on how your skin reacts to UV radiation. The app allows you to make calculations for the six skin types.
UV index varies according to latitude on the globe (latitude), time of year and time of day. The UV index which app to use the terms in clear weather with a cloudless sky. "My solar time" does not retrieve UV index based on the most accurate weather and ozone conditions where you are.
The app uses GPS to retrieve your position. GPS is not used without your permission. It's fine to use the app without GPS, but then you must either select location from a list of destinations or by manually entering a UV index. Verify that your phone is set to the current local time, so that the calculation is correct.
The app tries to determine whether it is winter or summer time at the place and on the date you specified. If the app can not determine the time zone of the location that you specified calculations are carried out without compensation for any summertime.
When you enter a UV index manually apply the calculated solar time for the midday (12.00) and in clear weather.
The app does not require internet connection and can therefore be used abroad with telephone and network functions are off. Then you are sure it will not cost you anything extra.
"My solar time" is published by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. Learn more about how the app works and authority UV work on www.stralsakerhetsmyndigheten.se
