GC Babble is the geocaching compass that leads you to the cache / destination via voice output. You can leave your smartphone in your pocket while searching as the direction and distance are announced via speakers or earphones.
Without constantly staring at the display, you will see trees, plants and animals that you have never seen before as a cacher! :-)
The app does NOT replace the known geocaching apps, but extends the app you use by another radar / compass or another navigation option.
Short description:
-Ansage direction & distance to cache
- optimized for safe caching with car & bike
Startup from other geocaching apps
Direct input of the target coordinates possible
Announcement interval can be customized
Operation with the display off
Additional functions:
Save car park (automatically & manually)
-Date & time announcement for logbook
Goal on ext. Show map (G-Maps, Locus ...)
-ext. Street Navi to the cache (Google Navi)
-last destination is saved (history)
Coordinates can be saved
Notes can be saved
Magnetic compass deactivate possible
(Note for newcomers: To use the app, GPS should of course be turned on.) The accuracy of the magnetic compass and GPS depends on the environment and the quality of your device Text to Speech (TTS) is needed for voice output pre-installed.)
GC Babble is started from your geocaching app via a selection list in the e.g. Google Navigation, Google Maps and other radar, compass and map apps are available to choose from. For example, via "Menu-Navigate - Radar - GC Babble". If no other radar app is installed, GC Babble starts right when you press "Radar".
You can also start GC Babble directly as a single app and manually enter the target coordinates (for example, when caching with printed listings or when searching for multi-cache stations). The saving of the coordinates is very helpful here.
Since GC Babble also works in the background, navigating while reading the listings and making a TJ call is possible.
The service is very outdoor-friendly. The basic functions can be operated by position sensors and hardware buttons even when the display is switched off. This saves battery power and nerves in a display that is difficult to recognize in sunlight. The display orientation (portrait / landscape) is fixed at startup to prevent unwanted switching during use.
In order to make the cache search as comfortable as possible, I have added a few additional functions. One of them is the automatic switching between magnetic and GPS compass and the automatic parking detection with parking coordinate storage. In addition, you will be announced when writing the log the date and time.
The target coordinates can be displayed on different external maps and thanks to the direct connection to the Google navigation, a journey by road is only a click away.
GC Babble has also proven to be a great group player, as everyone can hear the announcements and the group will guide itself.
Vermuggelte inner cities are best becachen with earphones. So you can camouflage even better as an interested tourist. :-)
It is also very helpful that the smartphone can stay in the pants or jacket pocket or even in the backpack. So you can not fall so fast into a stream o.ä. In addition, one has the hands free for searching, gripping and climbing.
Have fun while caching ...
I donated my idea & the source code to the creators of c: geo because I do not have time for regular updates. These have now inserted the speech output in their compass. Great made guys ... Thanks for allowing GC Babble to continue living in your app :-)
