Rush is a highly-accurate and GPS-based speedometer app from carVertical. If you’re tired of looking at the regular dashboard in your car, this is a solid alternative.
Rush offers:
● Accurate speed readings based on your GPS
This app is ideal if your vehicle has a broken speedometer (regardless of whether you're using a car or motorcycle), or if there’s no built-in speed tracking at all. For example, it’s great to use with your bicycle or electric scooter.
Since this speedometer uses the GPS, it will work even when you’re offline. Just remember that you won’t be able to track your trip on a map in offline mode.
● No ads!
Many other speedometer apps will annoy you with ads. Not Rush!
● Choice between metric (kph) or imperial (mph) units
If your preferred unit of measurement is miles per hour (mph), rather than kilometers per hour (kph) – Rush will satisfy your needs. Just toggle between kph/mph in the Settings, and you’re good to go.
● Speed Limiter feature to ensure you’re within the legal limit (or your own manually-set limit)
You can turn on the Speed Limiter if you want to be warned when going too fast. By default, this feature will keep you under the actual speed limit on the road you’re on (this won’t work in offline mode). Alternatively, you can set the maximum speed yourself.
● Tracking of your:
○ Distance travelled
○ Current speed
○ Average speed
○ Max speed
○ Altitude
● Trip history
Rush is awesome not only for current trip data – the convenient History tab has a travel log of all your trips and their related details. This includes the a) trip duration, b) distance travelled, c) average speed and max speed, d) altitude, and e) a map record, showing the path you took to get from point A to point B.
● 5 different UI themes to customize your experience
With our Rush speedometer app, you won’t have to worry about staring at the same dashboard all the time. Currently, we have 5 different speedometer styles/themes, so you can customize the experience to your liking.
1 of our themes has a map in the background, so you’ll not only know how fast you’re going – you’ll know where you’re going as well!
● The ability to choose your vehicle type (car, motorcycle, bicycle)
Whether you’re driving a car or taking a ride on your bike, Rush will work just fine. As a matter of fact, you can choose your vehicle-type in the Settings section.
● HUD mode – invert the speedometer to view it on your windshield
The Head-Up Display (HUD) mode lets you invert the speedometer, so you can use it as a reflection off your windshield. This is particularly useful at high speeds, when glancing at your dashboard or screen can be distracting.
This app is available on Android 8.0 (and newer).
*Note that the GPS signal is more accurate when there are fewer layers between you and the satellite. This includes the roof of your car or clouds.
