From the sciences of hadith by al-Hafiz Ibn Katheer, and Imam Malik was inquisitive in the narration, choosing men the best selection, criticizing men the most, so the people of hadith made it the book al-Muwatta at that time a reliable source of hadiths to invoke his hadiths in terms of the sentence - although it contains the sender and the transmitter - until the Sahih of Imam al-Bukhari appeared. Which preceded Al-Muwatta’ in authenticity, because Imam Al-Bukhari stripped the body of the book from the eloquence and correspondence, but mentioned them in the translations of the chapters as a way of citing them no more. With the progress of Sahih Al-Bukhari in authenticity, the Muwatta of Imam Malik did not lose that position as one of the well-known and prestigious sources of the Sunnah.

Imam al-Shafi’i said about the book Muwatta al-Imam Malik: “No book after the Book of God is more beneficial than the book of Malik bin Anas.” This was said before the emergence of Sahih Al-Bukhari.
Al-Bukhari said on the authority of Imam Malik’s Al-Muwatta book: “The most authentic chain of transmission is: Malik on the authority of Nafi’ on the authority of Ibn Umar.” This chain of transmission was often mentioned in Al-Muwatta.
Al-Qadi Abu Bakr bin Al-Arabi said in Sharh Al-Tirmidhi: Al-Muwatta is the origin and the door, and Al-Bukhari’s book is the original
