Kannur sector of the Akshaya project was started in December 2005. Soon the sector earned prominence in the state as it could competently and brilliantly carry out the diverse schemes assigned to it.
‘Ente Gramam’ was an innovative idea of Akshaya Kannur,

When Kannur was declared 100% E-literate district in Sept. 2005, it was a fulfillment and a culmination of genuine endeavors. Our E-Centers, very receptive in nature, stayed open in every Gram Panchayat and Municipality of the district.

The first time launch of Malayalam computing that enables users to enhance own flair and to keep the mother tongue linked with the vast and immeasurable internet universe, was another milestone of success for Akshaya.

E-DISTRICT
Akshaya Kannur presently has 220 centers functioning in the district and steps are on to start more centers. It is a matter of pride that Kannur was one among the chosen E-districts in the country when the union government decided to make the issuance of Village Office certificates On-line. The state-wise launch of the on-line certificate delivery was conducted in Kannur and the district soon became first in bringing about this modernization, in the line envisaged by the center and state governments.
ADHAAR
Akshaya could admirably complete the Adhaar Enrolment sittings, though the enrolment for National Population Register (NPR) had begun in the district. Special camps for Adhaar registration were organized in the Central Prison Kannur, the CRPF camp Peringome, the Naval Academy and the DSC Center.
FOOD SECURITY
Online registration for food security was started in 2014, and the scheme progressed well. Akshaya, since it took up the food security registration, has been getting the necessary departmental guidance for training and other related tasks. As of now, all Akshaya centers in the district are capable to carry out food security registration.

BANKING KIOSK
To be entrusted with consumer services of nationalized banks, was a turning point for us. 167 bank kiosks were put up in selected Akshaya centers across the district, out of which 52 are of SBT, 43 of SBI and 41 of Kerala Gramin Bank. These kiosks, which are ‘mini banks’ in a way, became signs of trust for Akshaya while adding convenience to bank users. More kiosks are likely to be allowed, so that no Akshaya center in the district will be without banking service.
JANA SAMBARKA PROGRAM
Akshaya centers in the district were instrumental in dealing with thousands of applications related to Kerala Chief Minister’s Janasambarka program. About 8000 applications were sent online and about 15000 found place in the Data entry. 35 Akshaya counters had to be kept operating as part of this program. Follow-up of the applications were also taken up.

WEB CASTING
First of its kind in the general election history of the country, web-casting on the polling day was entrusted with the Akshaya project offices. Akshaya took up this highly responsible job, by stationing at sensitive polling booths on the day of the general elections of 2014 and later during the local body elections of 2015. The numbers of booths thus covered by Akshaya were 173 in 2014 and 408 in 2015. The election commission promptly approved of our service in the elections.
INSURANCE PORTALS
Akshaya service was spreading out year after year. Our entry into the field of general insurance, in association with New India Assurance Company, now stands well established with 88 portals in the district.
