lepsyHub is an app developed by a caregiver to an epileptic patient. With about 25 epileptic specialists, Kenya has a huge gap in diagnosing and managing epilepsy. As a result, both patients and caregivers finds it very difficult to access these specialists. lepsyHub thus creates a platform where one can store and access their epilepsy history and use the information to manage the disease and also use the same when they go for clinics. The app has a first aid feature that gives guidelines on what to do when a patient encounters a seizure.
The diary feature enables one to keep records of the seizure triggers. The activities that trigger the seizures can therefore be avoided. As a result, it helps control the seizures hence helping in the management of epilepsy. People with epilepsy are prone to forget things more quickly than others. This rapid rate of forgetting makes it hard to manage the disease since they keep forgetting to take their medication on time. To help solve this; the app has a medicine reminder feature that helps one set an alarm that will go off once It’s time to take the prescribed medicine. This will go a long way towards managing epilepsy.
lepsyHub allows one to keep records of the seizure attacks as they happen, using the seizure tracker feature. During the patients visits to an epileptologist, this records will help assess whether the given medications are working or not.
To be updated later are features for booking sessions with a specialist and one for buying medicines. Managing epilepsy will be much easier as one will have one place to store, access, talk to a specialist and even buy medication at the comfort of their homes.
