Sheikh Abdul Mutaal Mansour Arafa in brief
(1927-1992)

He was born in the village of Bani Udayyat al-Qibliya, one of the villages of the Assiut Governorate, on the eighth of Dhu al-Hijjah 1345 AH corresponding to the eighth of June 1927 AD. This village was known as the village of scholars because it gave birth to many distinguished scholars, led by Sheikh Hassanein Makhlouf, the former Grand Mufti of Egypt.

In 1949 he obtained a high certificate from the Department of Readings, and in 1953 he obtained a certificate for the specialization of readings for the first batch that graduated from the department, and in the same year he was appointed as a teacher in the department in which he graduated. In 1954, he obtained a certificate of universality from Al-Azhar, which was a ladder to membership in the Council of Senior Scholars. Then Al-Azhar chose him as an envoy to Sudan, where he worked as a publisher of beneficial science during the period from 1954 to 1957.

In 1957, he was appointed as an observer at Al-Azhar, then was assigned to work in the Al-Azhar mission in Algeria. He stayed there from 1963 to 1967, teaching in religious institutes that were established following its independence. He returned to Cairo and worked at Al-Azhar University teaching intonation in its various faculties. He worked in the teaching corps and also worked in the corps. He rose in administrative positions from deputy to the Institute of Readings in Shubra in 1969 until he became a sheikh for the same institute in 1975 before he was appointed as a sheikh for the Egyptian reciters to teach readings.

When the Department of Holy Qur’an Affairs was established in Al-Azhar, he was assigned to work in it as an assistant director in 1977 while retaining the chiefdom of the institute, then as a general manager for the Department of Qur’an Affairs until 1985, when God wished to honor him in the city of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and to connect him to the service of the Holy Qur’an through his work as a consultant King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Noble Qur’an and Director of Monitoring the Noble Qur’anic Text in the Complex.

This was not the first time in the field of revising the Noble Qur’an, as Sheikh Abd al-Mu’taal Mansour Arafa had previously participated in revising the first Qur’an of Al-Azhar, under the guidance of the most eminent Imam, Sheikh Abd al-Halim Mahmoud, Sheikh of al-Azhar, and commissioned by the Islamic Research Academy.

In the field of revising the Noble Qur’an with a narration of Warsh on the authority of Imam Nafi’, his eminence headed a committee to amend, adjust and revise the Noble Qur’an, in the Department of Reviving Islamic Heritage in the State of Qatar with a group of venerable sheikhs.

Sheikh Abdul-Mutaal had many activities outside the field of professional work. He, may God have mercy on him, was the head of the Society for Preserving the Holy Qur’an, through which mosques were opened in Giza Governorate to work in the field of Qur’an memorization in the late seventies. He also had the greatest credit for building and establishing the Al-Azhar Institute in Imbaba, as well as the Primary Al-Azhar Institute in Bani Adiyat in Assiut, which the villagers insisted on renaming it after the Sheikh Abdul-Mutaal Al-Azhari Institute. He also contributed in the field of building and building mosques. He participated in a major role in the establishment of the Al-Noor Mosque in the city of Tahrir in Imbaba, and may God bless him and grant him the honor and honor of building the Al-Radwan Mosque in his village in Bani Udayyat in Assiut.

Then the field of da'wah expanded, not only to mosques, but also to the audio-visual media. On the radio, he had a lot of luck in the program "From the Houses of God", "Quranic Competitions", "Television Mosque" and religious hadiths. He also participated in the jury of the Quranic competition held annually in Malaysia.

He, may God have mercy on him, had a sweet voice, reciting the Qur’an, listening to it softly. He recorded it on tapes according to the narration of Hafs from Asim, but he recommended not to sell them and not to profit from them, and he permitted printing them and giving them to whomever he wanted, but for free. He also began recording some other narrations, but he did not complete them. And he wrote a book entitled “The Perfumed Revival Book” explaining a brief explanation of the benefits considered in the abnormal readings of the four after the ten.
his death

Sheikh Abdul-Mutaal Mansour, the Qur’an was his soul in which he lived, and he used to read it day and night tirelessly, and for the week he had a conclusion of the Holy Qur’an with one of the twenty narrations. And in 1992, God chose him for calamity in the last months of his life, and his tongue did not stop reciting the Noble Qur’an in the most painful situations. Rather, you wonder that at the end of his days, he frequently fell into coma, that state in which contact with the outside world and everyone around him is cut off. He is still reciting the Qur’an... He shuts up and then you hear verses from Surat Al-Baqarah... He shuts up and then you hear verses from Surat Yasin, then you hear verses from the Most Merciful and you hear verses from the incident... He doesn't know anything about all his loved ones who are next to him, but he only mentions the verses of God. And you would often hear him repeating the words of the Most High from the midst of the coma: “So yes those who respond,” as well as the words of the Most High, “And everything with Him is in proportion”…

Really, honestly, everything has a value
May God have mercy on our master, Sheikh Abdul Muttaal Mansour Arafa
May he be pleased with him, and may he rest in peace...
