Frankfurt History App

You are in Frankfurt and want to experience the history of the city in the present? Are you interested in what happened in your neighborhood or at the sights in the past? Are you planning a tour with your school class or friends?
The Frankfurt History App gives you insights into historical topics. Today's city is the starting point from which you can actively navigate through history. With the app you can follow the historical traces of the city, discover important places and personal stories. It offers historical knowledge on the go: for a quick exploration of your surroundings or for longer city tours. This knowledge is constantly being expanded, new topics and places can be added and tours can be put together yourself. The app is maintained by the Historical Museum Frankfurt and offers an open platform for initiatives, NGOs, users, museums and archives.

Frankfurt and National Socialism

The Historical Museum Frankfurt has compiled more than 1,000 sites related to the National Socialist past in cooperation with the Institute for the History of Frankfurt and initiatives. One look at the map is enough to see how much National Socialism has inscribed itself in the city's history. Here you will find places of the persecuted, places of resistance and places of the "Volksgemeinschaft".

Revolution 1848/49

In 1848/49 courageous citizens and visionary parliamentarians fought for and won the foundation of our present constitution and democracy. Frankfurt was one of the centers of revolution in Germany during these years. Now, we added three revolutionary tours to the Frankfurt History App. They lead to the theaters of the revolution, the meeting places of the political groups and the scenes of the September riots.
