The Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, Wisconsin has launched a mobile app to coincide with its newly renovated exhibit, "Wisconsin's Underwater Treasures". The exhibit highlights shipwrecks of the mid-lake region of Lake Michigan and features new interactive kiosks and broader selection of artifacts from culturally significant shipwrecks in the proposed Wisconsin-Lake Michigan National Marine Sanctuary!

This mobile app provides exclusive, additional content about Wisconsin's early immigration, passenger transportation, tools and methods of finding a shipwreck, additional photos and artwork and a daring rescue story of 74 passengers and crew from a burning passenger steamer, the Atlanta!

In addition to the educational information in the app, visitors can zoom in on the exhibit gallery map and access promotional discounts for items in the gift store.

Bluetooth LE is required to be turned on in order to unlock the additional sections of the app.

How it Works:

1) Install the Wisconsin's Underwater Treasures app onto your iPhone
2) Visit the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, Wisconsin
3) Ensure that Bluetooth is turned on when you arrive at the museum
4) When prompted, allow the app to access your current location
5) Enter into an iBeacon zone and the buttons along the bottom will unlock
6) Tap on a button to explore its content!
