Child Lexicon CLT allows researchers to investigate children's language development in the area of vocabulary acquisition.

CLT (Cross-Linguistic Lexical Tasks; https://multilada.pl/en/projects/clt) are a part of Language Impairment Testing in Multilingual Settings (LITMUS) battery and were originally developed in COST Action IS0804 (https://www.bi-sli.org)

CLT are picture-choice and picture-naming tasks that assess comprehension and production of nouns and verbs via four subtasks, which children solve on a tablet. The app is designed for multilingual and monolingual children aged 3 to 6 years.

The app was designed at the University of Warsaw by a team of researchers specializing in language development and bilingualism (https://multilada.pl/en/) as a part of a study on language trajectories in Polish-Norwegian multilingual children and their monolingual peers in Poland and Norway, within the PolkaNorski project (https://multilada.pl/en/projects/polkanorski/).

Only the parents who have signed up to participate in the study with their child and who were contacted by the researcher will be able to access the app.

If you and your child are interested in participating in the PolkaNorski project please fill out the application form: https://multilada.pl/en/contact/ and you will be soon contacted by one of our researchers about the details or other studies that you might find interesting.

List of features:
Picture choice: your child will be asked to choose a picture from the set of four in response to the question (e.g., Where is a hat?; Who is sleeping?)
Picture naming: your child will be asked to name pictures presented on the screen (e.g., objects, animals, different actions) in response to the question (e.g., What is it?; What is she doing?)

The Child Lexicon CLT study is confidential and the collected data will only be used for scientific purposes. We only collect audio recordings from the child’s responses in the naming tasks. We do not collect any other personal data in the Child Lexicon CLT – participants will receive an anonymous id and one-time access code. We maintain full confidentiality of the collected data and the data are stored on servers located in the European Union. We do not distribute the individual data to any third parties. Results will always be presented collectively (e.g. in scientific articles or presentations).

PolkaNorski project is conducted at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Warsaw in collaboration with Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) and the MultiLing, University of Oslo. The project is funded with Norway Grants (www.norwaygrants.org) via National Science Centre (www.ncn.gov.pl) within the GRIEG call.
