Help your kids learn emotion identification and coping skills!

The Emotion and Coping Game is an app based on a game created by the developer as a way to help kids learn how to identify emotions and what coping skills they can use when they experience a "difficult" emotion. It's meant to be flexible, so you can play how you want! The app includes the full game experience by default, but you can customize the gameplay (e.g., whether scores are tracked, which coping skills are used during the game) all within the app settings. And most of the settings are linked to the in-app user profile, so each kid can customize the game in their way and you can easily switch between profiles!

To start, the app will display a random emotion (i.e., happy, mad, sad, scared), and a number. Players take turns describing a situation that makes them feel that emotion, then they can earn points, move the number of spaces, or however else you want to play. If the emotion is a "difficult" one (i.e., mad, sad, scared), the app allows you to have a random coping skill card played. By demonstrating the listed skill, the negative points from the "difficult" emotion are cancelled out and the player can move forward.

While there is no research on this specific app, the developer is a post-doctoral fellow with a degree in clinical child psychology who has used the game as a part of therapy with kids. It's easy to play, and kids find it to be a fun way to discuss emotions!

Features:
- Easy-to-use interface that was recently redesigned for consistency and user-friendliness
- Animations and sound effects to make the app more engaging for kids (sound effects can be disabled easily in the app settings or during gameplay)
- Full customization options, including: app colors, coping skills used, and gameplay mechanics

- Kid-friendly information about emotions and coping skills so they can learn more about them, and to help parents discuss them with kids
