Charlottenburg Palace is - with the Old Palace and the New Wing - the largest and most important palace complex of the former Brandenburg electors, Prussian kings and German emperors in Berlin. It was one of the favorite places of seven generations of Hohenzollern rulers, who repeatedly had individual rooms and garden areas changed and beautifully designed.
The Old Castle, built around 1700, offers an introduction to the Hohenzollern dynasty as well as rooms furnished true to the original, magnificent halls and top-class art collections. The porcelain cabinet, the palace chapel and Frederick I's bedroom are among the highlights of the baroque parade apartments.
The New Wing, commissioned by Frederick the Great as an independent palace building, has housed ballrooms and apartments in the Friderician Rococo style since 1740. Despite the destruction in the Second World War and extensive restoration, these rooms are now among the most outstanding works of art of this era, including the Golden Gallery and the White Hall. On the upper floor, the “winter chambers” in the early classicist style also present works of art from the early 19th century.

Cecilienhof Palace, a castle built between 1913 and 1917 in an English country house style and the last Hohenzollern building, was the residence of the German crown prince couple Wilhelm and Cecilie until 1945. The Potsdam Conference took place here, one of the most important historical events of the 20th century. It is seen worldwide as a symbol of the end of the Second World War and the outbreak of the Cold War, which led to the division of Europe by the “Iron Curtain” and the construction of the “Wall”. The “Potsdam Agreement” passed in the palace shaped the world order after 1945.

In the New Chambers of Sanssouci, a guest palace of Frederick the Great, Frederick the Great's Rococo shows its most decorative side. The lavishly designed banquet rooms and apartments were furnished by leading artists of the time of Frederick the Great. A highlight of the room sequence is the rectangular jasper hall in the middle of the castle, which is decorated with antique busts and lined with fine jasper.

The Sanssouci Park with its unique terraces and the magnificent fountain in the center is world famous and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990. For over 250 years, the highest garden art has been combined here with the works of the most accomplished architects and sculptors of their time. The aesthetics and philosophy of the former residents of the palace complex are revealed in perfectly formed garden areas, architecture, water features and more than 1,000 sculptures.
