Objective: Capture at least 2/3 victory points at the end of turn 8 or eliminate all of the opposing armies units.
Infantry Units
Attacking: Each Infantry Unit can fire at enemies at a distance once per turn by selecting an infantry unit then selecting an enemy unit to fire at. The units fire indicator will change from green to red after the unit fires it’s shot for that turn. If the shot is effective then the enemy’s Men and/or Morale count will be reduced. An Infantry Unit will engage in melee if the target is in an adjacent tile.
Moving: Each Infantry Unit can move by first selecting an infantry unit. This will generate blue-gray colored movement tiles at locations the unit can move to. Move the unit to a new location by selecting the movement tile at the desired location. Depending on the terrain, the unit’s movement points will be reduced.
Square Formation: When an Infantry Unit is selected a button will appear with a square icon. This button toggles square formation which makes an Infantry Unit more powerful when fighting Cavalry Units but more vulnerable to ranged attacks.
Artillery Units
Attacking: Each Artillery Unit can fire at enemies at a distance one time per turn by selecting an Artillery Unit and then selecting an enemy unit to fire at. The units fire indicator will change from green to red after the unit fires it’s shot for that turn. If the shot is effective then the enemy unit’s Men and/or Morale count will be reduced. A unit’s Men and Morale points impact the unit’s effectiveness in combat. Artillery Units are very weak in melee combat.

Move the unit to a new location by selecting the movement tile at the desired location. Depending on the terrain, the unit’s movement points will be reduced. If a unit is out of movement points then it cannot move until the next turn.
Cavalry Units
Attacking: A Cavalry Unit will engage in a melee if the target is in an adjacent tile. In melee combat both sides usually taker losses, unlike ranged combat, and losses are generally more severe.

July 19 2015: This is the final version. There will be no more updates to Powder and Iron: The Battle of Waterloo. There will be future Powder and Iron strategy games, probably even another Waterloo one.The goal was to make a viable strategy game for the 2015 Waterloo bicentenary. The project started in August 2014 with almost no Unity development experience. Some of the decisions made early on in development now pose problems for enhancing the game now, so it is time to take what we learned here and make the next project a reality. Please feel free to contact me about any thoughts you may have on the matter.
Thanks for your support.
