As a legally insured person with BKK GILDEMEISTER SEIDENSTICKER, the electronic patient file, or “ePA” for short, is available to you free of charge. You can manage your health data there permanently and securely on a voluntary basis. The ePA is the personal digital storage location for your health data, like a safe that only you have the key to. Because you as the insured person have sole data sovereignty: you decide whether and who should have access to your electronic file. And you decide what data you want to put in it and share. With your approval, doctors can store diagnoses, findings or medication plans for you in the ePA. If a doctor, therapist or pharmacist needs your findings or documents, they will first need the appropriate key, i.e. explicit approval from you.

Advantages of the ePA
Every visit to the doctor usually involves a lot of documentation and paperwork. If you have to go to different doctors because of an illness or unclear symptoms, you will often be examined twice and have to answer the same questions again. With the electronic patient file, your data can now be conveniently transferred online and digitally. Unnecessary visits to the doctor and multiple examinations are now a thing of the past. This makes your life much easier. You always keep track of your health data - and also have your medication plan quickly at hand, avoiding the risk of interactions and dosage errors. With the ePA you save a lot of time and valuable nerves and at the same time relieve the burden on those involved in the healthcare system.

Security
As a statutory health insurance company, we ensure the best possible protection of your health data. To ensure that only you or people authorized by you have access to your ePA, we will securely identify you once. To do this, use one of the following options:

• Activation code: We will identify you at one of our offices and give you an activation code.
• POSTIDENT: Choose between identification at the post office or with your electronic ID card.
• Health card (eGK): Use your eGK including the associated PIN.
