"The Valley of Fear" and "The Valley of Fear" - detective story by Arthur Conan Doyle, published in 1915. The last of the four stories of Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. The first publication took place in the magazine Strand Magazine between September 1914 and May 1915. A separate edition was published in New York February 27, 1915.

And since November 1914 story began to translate and publish in Russia (in the magazines "Life and the court" and "Argus"). In the USSR before 1990 translation of the novel in Russian periodicals published three times: in 1925 in the journal "Red Panorama" (called "triangle in the circle"), in 1966 in the magazine "Star of the East" and in 1986 in the journal " Change ".Vstrechayutsya allegations that its publication was banned under secret.

Despite the successful completion of history, Edwards did not manage to escape: he dies, but at the hands of assassins Professor Moriarty.
