Authenticator apps are designed to enhance the security of online accounts by providing two-factor authentication. Normally, this app generates one-time passcodes that users must enter in addition to their regular passwords when logging into supported services or websites. But this two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access even if a user's password is compromised.

The Authenticator app typically uses a time-based, one-time password, where a new code is generated every 30 seconds. Users can link the app to their accounts by scanning QR codes provided by the service or manually entering setup codes. Authenticator apps enhance overall account security and help protect against various unwanted unsecure attacks.

Authenticator apps generally follow these steps.

1. Install the App
2. Use your device's camera to scan the QR code displayed by the service.
3. After scanning the barcode, it will generate a time-sensitive verification code.
4. Save these codes in a secure place; they can be used if you lose access to your Authenticator app.
5. The app will automatically generate new codes every 30 seconds and you can also hide these codes as your needs
6. If you want to remove an account from your Authenticator app, you can do so within the app's settings.
