Indian citizens can register to vote either online or offline.
Methods to Apply:
1. Online: How to Apply for a Voter ID Card Online
To apply for a Voter ID Card Online, follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the official Voter Services Portal.
Step 2: Choose the appropriate forms based on your case for applying for a Voter ID:
• Form 6 - Indian citizens aged 18 and above apply for a Voter ID Card.
• Form 6A - Overseas (NRI) electors apply for a Voter ID Card.
Step 3: Carefully fill out the online form, providing details such as name, address, date of birth, etc.
Step 4: Upload scanned copies of required documents (passport-size photo, identity proof, address proof).
Step 5: Check if the entered details are correct and click the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 6: Track your application status online using the provided reference number.
2. Offline: How to Apply for Voter ID Card Offline
To apply for a Voter ID Card Offline, follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit your nearest Booth Level Officer (BLO) or Election Registration Officer (ERO).
Step 2: Collect Form 6 or Form 6A and complete it manually.
Step 3: Attach photocopies of the required documents.
Step 4: Submit the form along with documents to the BLO/ERO.
