The Luther Bible (abbr. LB) is a translation of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible from ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and ancient Greek into German (Early New High German). The translation was made by Martin Luther with the collaboration of other theologians (especially Philipp Melanchthon). In September 1522 a first edition of the New Testament was ready (hence the name September Testament), in 1534 a complete Bible. In the Evangelical Church (EKD), as well as in the New Apostolic Church, the Luther translation in the revised version of 1984 is the Bible text used for worship and is also used in the liturgical books.
