Barcelona Sporting Club, mostly known as Barcelona, is an Ecuadorian sports club originally from the city of Guayaquil, founded on May 1, 1925

Its main discipline is the football which is part of the A Series of Ecuador since 1957 and, from 1965, is the only club he has played every season since the start of professionalism in 1957.

Estadio Monumental Isidro owns Romero Carbo, this was inaugurated on 27 December 19877 with the name Monumental Stadium in Barcelona Sporting Club and in 1992 changed the name to Isidro Romero Carbo Estadio Monumental. From 2008 to the present it is known by the trade name Estadio Monumental Banco Pichincha.

The team maintains a historic football rivalry with Club Sport Emelec has generated altercations inside and outside the estadios.8 9 Barcelona and Emelec played the so-called Clásico del Astillero, considered the most traditional of Ecuador.

The club throughout their 92 years of institutional life has made significant achievements in their main discipline: La Victoria to Millonarios of Bogota, Hazaña de la Plata against Estudiantes de La Plata and runners-up of the Copa Libertadores in 1990 and 1998 . It was also the first team to get a bicampeonato of Ecuadorian football (1970-1971). These achievements have become the most popular club Ecuador.11 12

Had in its ranks the athlete Alberto Spencer, who would devote as top scorer in the Copa Libertadores.

He is currently the club's achievements in the Ecuadorian soccer championship.
