This guide to Bérchules will be very useful for moving through its streets, locating each bar, restaurant, accommodation, or visitable places of tourist or cultural interest, you will be able to know where its main festivals are celebrated, or discover our trails. Bérchules is a municipality in the Alpujarra of Granada, cloistered in the Sierra Nevada National Park.

This town is located on the southern slope of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, in high mountains, between beautiful landscapes and sources of ferruginous and carbonated waters. Bérchules has a spring called Fuente Agria and located in the ravine of the Guadalfeo River. Its white houses with flat roofs and its stepped streets, perfectly adapted to the rugged terrain, make up the typical Alpujarreño architecture.

A unique feature of Bérchules that deserves to be highlighted is that it celebrates New Year's Eve in August. This fact is due to the fact that on a recent December 31, there was a power outage in the town, depriving the residents of following the twelve bells and saying goodbye to the year. The berchuleros then decided to take the grapes in the middle of summer.

The street map will allow you to locate each place of interest and each bar or restaurant where you can taste the delicious products derived from pork, delicacies such as ham and products from the Alpujarra.

The combination of all the architectural, cultural and landscape characteristics turn this municipality into an exceptional tourist destination. Tourism in rural areas is becoming another component of the quality of life, an alternative to urban life and currently represents one of the greatest economic resources for the people of Alpujarra. Therefore, actions are proposed that should emphasize the conservation and enhancement of our natural, cultural and tourist resources.
