This App can be used to assess the pitch and roll of the phone. We've used a version of this in a prior study to assess cervical ROM.

Quek, J., Brauer, S.G., Treleaven, J., Pua, Y.-H., Mentiplay, B., Clark, R.A.
Validity and intra-rater reliability of an Android phone application to measure cervical range-of-motion
(2014) Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation, 11 (1), art. no. 65.

To use it simply open the App and tick the "START/STOP Data Collection" box. You'll then see flickering numbers appear in the three boxes underneath it. Put the phone in the zero position and click green the "ZERO" button, then move the phone to the final movement position and click the blue "FULL ROM" button. The App will then provide the values in the text boxes and read out the pitch and roll scores.

Please note that the azimuth reading is not particularly accurate in most phones, as it relies on the magnetometer and not the accelerometer like the pitch and roll do. To obtain the most accurate values try and keep the axes of the phone aligned. You can use the small spirit level to achieve this, simply keep the small red indicator circle on it as aligned to the **** of movement as possible. The images on the Play store show an aligned and misaligned test. As long as the alignment is reasonable it will give accurate results.

This app has been tested on various Sony and Samsung models, however it will not work on some phones. Many cheap phones do not have the required sensors in-built and therefore this App will not work on them.
