The Virtual Assistant application is designed to support people with intellectual disabilities in their work. This tool easily shows you step by step how to perform selected professional tasks. The description of the task is supported by a photo showing the given activity and a sound file.
The application consists of 6 modules (including 42 tasks):
• office activities: preparing to work with the printer, printing documents, photocopying documents, scanning, arranging documents in folders, stapling documents
• cleaning work inside the building: adding paper to the toilet, mopping the floor, washing the handrails, washing the shelves, washing the stairs, washing the sink, emptying the bins/throwing away the garbage, wiping the windows, preparing the room for meetings, cleaning the toilet, replenishing the soap in the container, wiping the dust , sweeping the floor, collecting empty packaging, vacuuming
• tidying up the outdoor area: collecting garbage from lawns, sweeping the outdoor area, weeding, raking leaves, clearing snow from the area, covering ice with sand, mowing the grass
• work in the restaurant: setting the table, polishing cutlery, cleaning up after meals, wiping tables, washing dishes by hand, washing dishes in the dishwasher, peeling and cutting fruit and vegetables
• work in the sorting room/warehouse: moving and arranging folders or binders in the warehouse, sorting products / on the example of books by color, sorting shipments, arranging packed products
• work in the cinema/theatre: checking tickets in the cinema, checking tickets in the theatre, cloakroom service.
In the Virtual Assistant application, you can also find additional information on how to write a CV or cover letter, and where to look for a job.
After launching the application, two profiles appear - "Me" or "Supervisor/coach".
The “I” profile is a profile for people with intellectual disabilities. On the first screen, the main menu will appear, i.e. showing the main groups of activities. Touching the tile with the text will cause the reader to read the text, touching the tile with the drawing will enter a given category of activities or professional task.
The “Supervisor/Trainer” profile allows you to arrange activities according to your preferences. It allows you to choose professional tasks that the employee performs and in which he or she should be supported on a given day. After enabling the profile, a control panel appears with a list of all groups of activities and professional tasks. Green marking next to groups or tasks means that they are active - available in the application and can be performed. Unchecking them deactivates them. The supervisor/trainer also has the ability to set the employee's working time to be able to remind him about breaks. After a set time, an information about the need to take a break, accompanied by a sound signal, will appear on the desktop of an employee with intellectual disabilities. If we do not want the information about the break to appear on the employee's desktop, then, as in the case of tasks, we can deactivate it by unchecking it in the control panel. Remember to save your settings every time.
The Virtual Assistant application can be run in the Android operating system on a mobile phone and tablet. Works offline and does not require a password.
