SanaMidi
Find words with 3-10 letters.
The Finnish vocabulary used in this game is mainly based on the vocabulary of the basic dictionary.
For example, verbs in the basic form, adjectives, nouns, nominatives, etc.
but e.g. command form i.e. imperative and proper nouns do not work.
Points are determined by the length of the word:
3 letters -> 1 point
4 letters -> 3 points
5 letters -> 8 points + 1 card in the deck
6 letters -> 15 points + 1 card in the deck
7 letters -> 25 points + I pack 2 cards
8 letters -> 40 points + I pack 3 cards
9 letters -> 60 points + I pack 5 cards
10 letters -> 100 points + I pack 10 cards
More special functions open up if you know 7-10 letter words.
By reaching higher levels, more new features open up.
For a wrong word, you get minus points according to the previous table and at the same time you also lose one letter card from the deck.
Letters are drawn randomly on the screen, according to their frequency distribution:
A=11.62%
I=10.71%
T=9.88%
N=8.67%
E=8.21%
S=7.86%
L=5.76%
O=5.31%
K=5.27%
U=5.00%
Ä=4.81%
M=3.51%
V=2.45%
R=2.16%
J=1.93%
H=1.82%
Y=1.81%
P=1.66%
Bonus letters on harder levels:
D=0.84%
Ö=0.47%
G=0.13%
B=0.06%
F=0.06%
The rest of the letters are so rare that they are ignored in this game due to the difficulty level.
When you get from the top of the pyramid the so-called kunkku card (100 points), and you can go to the next level.
There is no time limit in the game, but one point decreases once every half minute, so you lose fewer points by acting reasonably fast.
Tips:
- Using the letters A, I, T, N, E and S will get you far in the game.
- If there are two letter cards with the same letter next to each other, always prefer to use the letter in the middle rather than the letter on the edge (tactics).
- Only take a letter card out of the pack when you have to.
- By knowing a 10-letter word, you get 100 points and 10 more letter cards in the deck, as well as the star card function and the shuffle pyramid function.
- Plan in advance a letter or word route upwards towards the top of the pyramid.
- The cancel button clears the word field and puts back the letters selected from the pyramid.
- The cancel button does not remove the displayed letter from the deck, but removes the selected letters from the deck that are already in the word field.
- Use the word field as a store for one letter card when you scroll through the letter cards. It greatly increases the formation of words.
- When there are only consonants free in the pyramid, put a consonant in the word field and look for a vowel in the deck.
- When there are only vowels free in the pyramid, put a vowel in the word field and look for a consonant in the pack.
- Only use straw combs (star, hammer or mixture) when absolutely necessary.
- Long words can be easily obtained by adding the following suffixes to the basic word: -ISMI, -INEN, -TTAA, -OIDA, -OITTAA... etc.
Acceptable words are copied from the dictionary of the Center for Finnish Languages (94110 words in total at www.kotus.fi).
The word list has been modified to suit this game by removing words with less than three and more than 10 letters.
