Our city culture is the future of social media. A bold stance, I know. But, we believe we have captured what social media was truly meant to be - a way to connect. So, we have removed all barriers to connecting. Using our city culture is as simple as visiting ourcityculture.com or downloading the app via the App Store or Google's Play Store. You don't need an account, and you never will.
Socializing is about showing up every day until you are no longer a stranger. We believe the connection happens when your bias is not affected. Our City Culture will work hard to build a platform that does not affect your bias without your consent. You will never like another post again (or create content for the sake of receiving a like).
At ourcityculture, your goal is to let it out - with no preconceived notion of doing it for someone else. Do it for yourself.
Creating Thoughts
Use the zip code feature in the footer to swap communities to see what others are talking about. This also sets your current location so any new post you make will show up under that zip code. With no zip code specified, you will see all posts available on the site. If this is empty, new posts will be made using the last entered zip code (no need to track your location via geolocation when we do it this way).
When posting, select a topic so your post is seen by others in the right topic category. Share your posts with friends (they don't have to know it was you!). You can come back to see how many users have viewed your post by clicking on the date of that post or sharing the link with your friends.
Viewing Thoughts
Posts are meant to be seen as things are happening. You can delete your posts, but there is no single feed to see every post you have made. Every person using the app shares the same feed and can see very post ever made. Posts are never deleted unless you delete it.
You can filter the feed by clicking the folder icon, then selecting topics that you want to see in your feed. You can select or deselect to customize your feed at any time.
Moderation
We believe in free speech but are against hate speech. To this end, we use no human moderation. All moderation is handled at the time of post creation. You cannot create a post that contains hate speech in it. Other than that, you are free to post whatever is on your mind. The goal, is for you to show up and share your thoughts. If you want to consume, you can. If you do not, you don't have to.
Learn more about the people around you and share more about yourself to the people who are around you. The moderation will handle itself. Please visit our privacy policy to understand in detail how our AI system moderates. In short, it uses the OpenAI moderation API which is extremely good at identifying hate speech.
Our Mission
Our City Culture is a next generation social media platform that aims to cut out the noise for good.
Once you let it out, you can start connecting with yourself and the world around you. That is hard when you are doing it alone, so do it with your neighbors in your country. Get familiar with local zip codes, how others are thinking, and expand your ego / bias.
For now, ourcityculture focuses on the United States. Part of our mission is to bring the United States together, so the platform is meant mainly for United States residents. In the early days, everyone can visit, but eventually, you will need to be a resident to visit the site. Future versions will be created for different nations. In addition, all content on the platform is heavily moderated.
Our City Culture is meant to help you get your thoughts out of your head and into the world. It is a philosophers footnote. It is also a tool to tell the truth. Anonymous feedback is the most valuable and honest. Use this platform to grow as a person. More updates will come overtime (like voice changer posting and earning from creating content), but the basis of this project is simplicity while still connecting online.
Happy connecting!
