The Carnivore Tracker App. is the first of its kind to gathers sightings (presence data) for all wild carnivores across Namibian at the touch of a button, designed by Dr. Louisa Richmond-Coggan (Cheetah Conservation Fund) and Steven Lambright. The Carnivore Tracker App. is free to download to everyone. Every carnivore icon comes with a clear photograph for identification and a short description about the carnivore such as its place on the IUCN Red List to habitat and diet preferences. As well as which wild carnivore you sight we also ask for the number of individuals sighted as some carnivores are solitary but others live in groups such as spotted hyaenas and Africa wild dogs.

Citizen science is you, and you are vitally important to the future of carnivores conservation globally as you now hold the power in your hand through your phone. Sign up, join in and if you Spot it, Report it as you can make a difference.

The Cheetahs Conservation Fund in association with the Large Carnivore Management Association of Namibia (LCMAN) aims to collect real time sighting information for all of Namibia’s carnivores. Carnivores are declining at a rapid rate both globally and in Namibia due to a variety reasons such as; human-wildlife conflict and habitat loss. If we don’t know where they are to start with then we can’t work to conserve them now and into the future. Our aim is to have everyone across Namibia including farmers, game reserves, tourists and the Namibia public download and use the Carnivore Tracker App. The Carnivore Tracker App. can be used on a working cattle farm to game drive around a national park, every sighting is vitally important.

Don't worry if you are not in area of internet/wifi when you see a carnivore as the Carnivore Tracker App. will store the sighting and download it when you enter an area of signal, so press away. The Cheetah Conservation Fund will store and sort the information and a sightings report will be sent to all Carnivore Tracker App. members and LCMAN every three months.

2 New Features for Carnivore Tracker:
1. Personal list of recoded sightings
2. Interactive sightings map for each species

About The Cheetah Conservation Fund
CCF is the world’s leading organization dedicated to saving the cheetah in the wild. Founded by Dr. Laurie Marker in 1990, CCF has created a set of integrated programs aimed at addressing the principle threats to the cheetah. CCF’s conservation programming is rooted in scientific research. CCF maintains a research program on the biology, ecology and genetics of cheetahs that publishes papers in peer-reviewed journals annually, and currently operates the only fully-equipped genetics lab at an in-situ conservation facility in Africa. Using this research as an underpinning, CCF has created a set of integrated programs that together address the threats both to the cheetah and its entire ecosystem, including human populations. CCF operates from the principle that only by securing the future of the communities that live alongside the cheetah can you secure a future for the cheetah.
