Use mirrors to create space. It might be a cliche to say this. It might be a cliche to say also that mirrors can create an illusory effect.

Light colors e.g. cream, white create an airy light effect and the added use of a mirror or mirrors can complement this effect. If a mirror fills up an entire wall area, then you have a certain effect; an atmosphere which adds to the light colors already there. Certain contrast effects are important so 'black' may be effective i.e black colors, fabrics. This 'black' can be a black rim for the mirror but since the mirror is filling up an entire wall area, the black rim would be like a black strip at the wall edges. You can also use 'black' elsewhere in a pattern for another wall.

The main purpose of this article is to talk about mirrors. And mirrors can be used to create an atmosphere, an interior. For creating an atmosphere for the space is akin in some way to designing for that space. In interior design, you design for the interior and you have to ask what is that interior. You can 'define' that interior. And with mirrors, especially ones that fills up an entire wall area, you are 'creating' an interior. You are 'adding to' the space already there.

Mirrors can create space, large space. Light cream colors can create. But what is creating space? The space is already there, it is there and you design for that space.

An interior is about creating space but limiting/delimiting space also. And windows, walls obviously delimit. But what truly limits space is what is in the space and that is colors, patterns and obviously furniture. In some way, this article talks about a relatively wide space or at least living room area or the ground floor of a ordinary shop.

A mirror only reflects what is in the interior. So a mirror on its own can't create space.. You have to have the right colors and a 'room' with good dimensions ie at least living room size.

Blue and pink, these can be light colors ie. light blue and certain pink hues. And if they are dominant colors in a pattern, they can create a lightness of atmosphere. 'Atmosphere' is important in creating interiors. The 'atmosphere' creates 'the space, the look. And what is' creating'? This is the question, perhaps it is a question that doesn't need answering because the act of 'creating' interiors is something personal, and always unique.

You are creating an atmosphere and then you are also creating or designing a space. That is why the 'atmosphere' creates the space. And good use of mirrors can create a certain atmosphere. And in this article, the atmosphere is a light airy atmosphere, a light colored atmosphere creating the illusion of space.

Of course mirrors can be important items of furniture but this article is not treating mirrors as items of furniture. Here they are used to create that atmosphere, that space. So wood framed or steel framed mirrors can take away the whole 'effect' so we are thinking of mirrors here as glass; objects of reflection. Or they are planes of silver; they are wide, large pieces of furniture which can take up a whole wall.

This is what is being talked about in this article. It is the mirror itself and not the frame; it is the mirror blending into the interior. It is the mirror filling up a whole wall area, one wall, maybe two. And this is one example of how a mirror creates space, i.e the mirror fills up as said a wall area or part of a wall. The mirror is obviously affixed to the wall. So the mirror is part of the wall. It is the wall.

One of the first things I'm going to tell you is that there are lots of different designs all with different sizes, uses and power settings. I think the most useful type is also the one you see a lot of already and it tends to sit in the bathroom on a metallic stand. These types of magnification mirrors are usually between 5 and 10x in power and are round and shaped similar in size to that of someone's face.
