A smart timer for timing cycling time-trials.

On the Setup tab the user chooses a start interval (typically 1 minute) and enters the total number of riders.

The start interval can also be set to zero, meaning the timer could be used for races where all competitors start together.

There is an option to specify a minimum time (hh:mm). This reduces the number or riders to choose from at the finish line. For example: For a 15 km race with 20 riders, set the minimum time to 12 minutes. At the finish line only those riders who have started, have not finished and have been underway for more than the minimum time will be listed at the finish line. The minimum time should be chosen so that no rider in your race is capable of going below it. If the minimum time is set to 0, all potential riders are listed at the finish line. The minimum time is ignored if the start interval is zero.

On the Start Line tab the clock is started and a count down of the seconds to the next rider's start is shown. The last five seconds are indicated by distinctive tones.

At the Finish Line the user presses a "Record" button to capture a time as the rider crosses the line. Then the rider's start or bib number is entered. The result is then stored. If several riders cross the line in quick succession, the "Record" button can be pressed once for each rider. A queue appears allowing each time to be associated with the correct rider. This means the capture of the times is accurate. Providing the finish line official remembers the two or three riders' numbers, they can be entered afterwards. A spin control displays only those riders who have started and not yet finished. They are listed in ascending order. So the correct number can be quickly found. Once a time is associated with a rider the result can be stored and dismissed. This scheme differs from other timers where the user must enter the rider's number as they approach the line. The queue means that when things get hectic the times can be captured and the riders' numbers entered later.
If the operator pressed "Record" too many times or accidentally, the time can be assigned to rider 0 (zero) and stored.

A Summary tab shows the time-trial results, with the elapsed time and the calculated time (based on the riders' start positions). The results can be saved to a file on the phone or tablet or emailed. The file or email attachment is in CSV (comma separated variables) form and opens as a spread sheet.

The time-trial timer is not yet integrated with a rider database and assumes that the bib number is also the start sequence number.
