Dental Quiz, a serious game, type questions and answers designed to support the study of the discipline of dental prostheses. The game offers the user immersion in a fairly common scenario in the career of a dental student, get a job vacancy in a renowned dental clinic.
In the proposed scenario, the player goes through three steps to be hired (initial interview, internship and residency). At each step, covering different levels of difficulty, the user is sabatinado with questions consist of a scenario (a specific dental arch), a question and answer choices. In the plot aimed at immersing the character, the game implements different strategies of extrinsic motivation as punctuation, bonuses for response time and ranking.
The game is proposed to be integrated into the practice of the discipline of dental prostheses where the position of the ranking, associated with virtual results obtained by the student can be redeemed for bonuses in the discipline.
The tool design initiative was a problem experienced by teachers in the course of Implant Dentistry discipline UNIFOR. Given the nature of the content taught in the discipline, there was a failure rate above the average of the course, which led the search for teaching strategies that would have justified the students in the study and assessment of the content. From a participatory design process multidisciplinary project team, consisting of students and teachers of science courses in Computer, Communication and Dentistry, designed a study methodology supported by the use of a serious game in the style questions and answers (Quiz ) for mobile cell phone-type devices, which simulates clinical situations.
In the proposed scenario, the player is a candidate for a seat in the CPD prosthesis team of a famous dental clinic. The candidate will go through three stages, initial interview, internship and residency In order to be hired. At each step, the user faces increasing levels of difficulty sabatinado by their supervisors with questions consist of a scenario (a specific dental arch), a question and answer choices.
